Job summary

Smart4 Energy is seeking a Professional Electrical Engineer in Cape Town to support the design, engineering, compliance, and delivery of Solar PV and energy storage projects. The role targets engineers registered or progressing toward registration.

The successful candidate will contribute across the full project lifecycle from design through to handover, collaborating with an experienced team on diverse renewable energy installations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering required.
• ECSA Pr.Eng or Candidate Engineer registration or in progress.
• 3–8 years experience in Solar PV design and project engineering.
• Experience on 100 kW to utility-scale projects.
• Proficient with AutoCAD, PVsyst, Helioscope, DIGSilent and MS Office.
• Knowledge of SCADA and remote monitoring systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead or support the design and engineering of Solar PV systems with layouts, specs and technical docs.
• Support procurement, installation, commissioning and project delivery activities.
• Ensure compliance with SANS, IEC, NRS and municipal regulations.
• Engage with clients, utilities, municipalities and stakeholders.
• Oversee testing, commissioning, system validation and handover docs.
• Mentor junior engineers and support technical development initiatives.
• Stay updated on renewable tech and drive continuous improvement.
