Placements24 is seeking an experienced Electrical Maintenance Supervisor to oversee on-site maintenance operations at our Benoni facility. The role focuses on ensuring reliability of electrical systems, managing a skilled team, and delivering safe, compliant maintenance programs.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in industrial electrical maintenance, strong supervision skills, and a deep understanding of high/low voltage systems, protection relays, and CMMS usage.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in electrical maintenance, preferably in power generation.
• Experience supervising maintenance teams.
• Strong knowledge of HV and LV electrical systems and protection relays.
• Ability to read electrical diagrams and technical manuals.
• Familiar with LOTO and industrial safety procedures.
• Willingness to work on-site full-time in Benoni.

Responsibilities

• Supervise a team of electrical maintenance technicians and ensure tasks are completed efficiently.
• Develop and manage preventive and corrective maintenance programs for generators, transformers, switchgear, motors, and control systems.
• Troubleshoot faults and implement timely repair solutions.

About the Role

Our client, a significant operator in the power generation sector, is seeking an experienced and hands-on Electrical Maintenance Supervisor to oversee the maintenance operations at their facility in Benoni, Gauteng . This critical role ensures the optimal performance and reliability of all electrical systems and equipment within the power plant. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in industrial electrical maintenance, with proven leadership capabilities. You will be responsible for managing a team of skilled technicians, planning and executing maintenance schedules, troubleshooting complex electrical issues, and ensuring adherence to stringent safety protocols. This is an essential on-site position requiring a dedicated individual committed to maintaining the highest standards of operational excellence. Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and lead a team of electrical maintenance technicians, ensuring efficient workflow and task completion.
• Develop, implement, and manage preventive and corrective maintenance programs for all electrical equipment, including generators, transformers, switchgear, motors, and control systems.
• Troubleshoot and diagnose electrical faults and failures, implementing timely and effective repair solutions.
• Ensure all maintenance activities are conducted in strict accordance with safety regulations, company policies, and industry best practices.
• Manage spare parts inventory and ensure the availability of critical components.
• Interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals to guide maintenance and repair work.
• Conduct regular safety inspections and toolbox talks with the maintenance team.
• Assist in the planning and execution of major maintenance outages and capital projects.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and prepare reports on equipment performance and maintenance activities.

Requirements

• National Diploma or Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent qualification.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in electrical maintenance, preferably within a power generation, heavy industrial, or similar environment.
• Proven experience in supervising maintenance teams.
• Strong knowledge of high voltage and low voltage electrical systems, power distribution, protection relays, and control systems.
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical diagrams and technical documentation.
• In-depth understanding of industrial safety procedures, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO).
• Excellent troubleshooting, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational abilities.
• Experience with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) is desirable.
• Must be willing to work full-time at the facility in Benoni, Gauteng and be available for emergency call-outs.
