Job summary

Placements24 seeks an experienced Electrical Instrumentation Engineer to design, implement, calibrate, and maintain instrumentation systems for process control. Remote-capable with occasional site visits to Upington, Northern Cape region in South Africa.

You will work on sensors, transmitters, control valves, PLCs, and DCS to ensure accurate control loops. Collaboration with multidisciplinary teams will optimize plant performance and safety in various sectors.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Mechatronics.
• Minimum 5 years of industrial electrical/instrumentation experience.
• Experience with PLCs, DCS, SCADA and industrial protocols.

Responsibilities

• Design, select, and specify electrical and instrumentation components for industrial processes.
• Develop P&ID diagrams, loop diagrams, wiring schedules, and instrument specifications.
• Calibrate and maintain instruments to ensure accuracy and reliability.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues in electrical and instrumentation systems.
• Implement and maintain PLC and DCS based control systems.
• Ensure compliance with ISA/IEC standards and safety regulations.
• Collaborate with process engineers and operations to optimize control strategies.
• Prepare commissioning reports and user manuals.

Key Responsibilities

Requirements

• Knowledge of PLCs, DCS, SCADA systems, and industrial communication protocols.
• Experience with calibration techniques and maintenance of various instrument types.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for remote collaboration.
• Ability to work independently and manage project tasks effectively.
• Familiarity with hazardous area classifications and associated electrical requirements is a plus.
