Placements24 is seeking a seasoned Senior Instrumentation Engineer to oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of instrumentation and control systems for industrial operations in Upington.

You will lead projects, provide technical expertise on process measurement, calibration, and control valve technology, and mentor junior engineers. The role focuses on safety, reliability, and optimization across plant systems in the Northern Cape.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Instrumentation Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• 7+ years of instrumentation engineering experience in industrial/process environments.
• Strong knowledge of process measurement principles (pressure, temperature, flow, level) and control valve technology.

Responsibilities

• Design and specify instrumentation for process control applications, including sensors, transmitters, valves, and control systems.
• Develop calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting procedures for instrumentation.
• Lead instrumentation projects from conception through commissioning, ensuring adherence to specifications and schedules.
• Provide expert technical support for instrumentation-related issues and process optimization efforts.
• Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards, safety regulations, and environmental requirements.
• Train and mentor junior instrumentation engineers and technicians.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and specify instrumentation for process control applications, including sensors, transmitters, valves, and control systems.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Instrumentation Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• A minimum of 7 years of experience in instrumentation engineering within industrial or process environments.
• Strong knowledge of process measurement principles (pressure, temperature, flow, level) and control valve technology.
• Experience with Distributed Control Systems (DCS) and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs).
• Proficiency in interpreting P&IDs, loop diagrams, and instrument specifications.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
