Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Field Service Engineer to service clients in and around Upington, Northern Cape. You will install, maintain and repair complex electrical systems, diagnose issues, and train customer personnel on operation and maintenance.

The role requires extensive travel within the Northern Cape, excellent diagnostic skills, and strong customer service abilities. A relevant electrical engineering qualification and a valid driver’s license are essential, with flexible hours including

Qualifications

• National Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related technical field.
• Minimum of 5 years in field service or technical support.
• Strong understanding of electrical schematics, control systems and troubleshooting techniques.
• Experience with AC/DC drives, PLCs and industrial automation components.
• Excellent diagnostic and problem-solving abilities.
• Proficiency with multimeters, oscilloscopes and other test equipment.
• Strong customer service and communication skills with ability to build rapport with clients.
• Willingness to travel extensively within Upington and surrounding areas.
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Perform on-site installation, maintenance and repair of electrical systems and industrial equipment.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical and mechanical issues using advanced diagnostic tools.
• Provide technical training and guidance to customer personnel on equipment operation and maintenance.
• Respond to customer service requests and emergency calls promptly.
• Prepare detailed service reports documenting work performed, parts used and recommendations.
• Identify opportunities for equipment upgrades or retrofits to improve performance and reliability.
• Maintain inventory of spare parts and tools and ensure proper upkeep.
• Collaborate with internal engineering and sales teams to resolve issues and provide feedback.
• Adhere to company safety policies and procedures on client sites.
