Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an Electrical Engineering Technologist for our client in Tembisa. The role focuses on maintaining, troubleshooting and improving electrical systems to maximise uptime in a manufacturing environment.

You will read schematics, work with motor control and PLCs, and support installation and commissioning of new equipment while upholding strict electrical safety standards.

Qualifications

• National Diploma or B.Tech in Electrical Engineering Technology.
• Proven experience as an Electrical Engineering Technologist, preferably in manufacturing/industrial environments.
• Strong knowledge of industrial electrical systems, motor control, and PLC programming.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support for operation and maintenance of electrical equipment and systems.
• Troubleshoot and resolve electrical issues to minimize downtime and ensure safe operations.
• Assist in installation, modification, and commissioning of electrical machinery and control systems.
• Conduct regular inspections and preventative maintenance on electrical installations and equipment.
• Develop and update electrical diagrams and maintenance logs.
• Ensure compliance with electrical safety regulations and company policies.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide technical support for the operation and maintenance of electrical equipment and systems within the manufacturing facility.
• Troubleshoot and resolve electrical issues to minimize production downtime, ensuring efficient and safe operations.
• Participate in the installation, modification, and commissioning of new electrical machinery and control systems.
• Conduct regular inspections and preventative maintenance on electrical installations and equipment.
• Develop and update technical documentation, including electrical diagrams and maintenance logs.
• Assist in ensuring compliance with all relevant electrical safety regulations and company policies.

Requirements

• Proven experience as an Electrical Engineering Technologist, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial environment.

• Ability to read and interpret complex electrical schematics and blueprints.
• Registered or eligible for registration with ECSA as a Professional Engineering Technologist or Technician is advantageous.
