Placements24 is seeking a practical Industrial Electrical Engineer to join the Soweto-site operations team. The role focuses on maintaining and improving electrical infrastructure across industrial facilities, with duties spanning troubleshooting, preventative maintenance, and project implementation to keep plant machinery running efficiently.

This hands-on, on-site position requires strong knowledge of power systems, motor controls, and automation, plus experience with PLCs/HMI.

Qualifications

• National Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related trade qualification.
• 3–5 years of industrial electrical engineering/technician experience.
• Strong knowledge of industrial power systems, motor controls and automation.
• Experience with PLCs and HMI systems is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Perform diagnostic testing and repairs on industrial electrical equipment, machinery, and control systems.
• Develop and implement preventative maintenance programs for electrical systems to minimize downtime.
• Manage electrical aspects of plant modifications and new installations, ensuring safety and efficiency.
• Read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals.
• Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and company policies regarding electrical work.
• Collaborate with production and maintenance teams to identify and resolve electrical issues impacting operations.
