Job summary

CK Talent Partners in Pretoria is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer to plan, direct and coordinate professional electrical designs across the full design process to meet client requirements.

The role requires expertise in MCC design IEC61439, heat rise calculations, transformer sizing, substations, cable sizing, and adherence to safety standards, with mentoring of CAD operators and engineers throughout project execution.

Qualifications

• Degree/ Technical Diploma or NQF Equivalent.
• Pr. Eng (an advantage but not required).
• Extensive operational and design experience.
• Exposure to Mining Industry.
• Knowledge of international electrical and instrumentation standards.
• SANS standards.
• MHS Act & OHS Act knowledge.
• Technical product knowledge.
• Knowledge of PLC and Scada systems.
• Industrial plant design experience.
• Mining design experience.

Responsibilities

• To plan, direct and coordinate professional electrical designs as part of the complete design process to meet client specific requirements.
• To plan and align designs to business strategies and objectives to ensure effective customer service.
• To align designs with industry best practices to ensure effective cost management and adherence to safety regulations.
• To ensure continuous improvements on the designs for optimal and cost-effective implementation.
• To mentor and coach, the CAD operators and Engineers in training to ensure optimal utilization and development of these human resources.
• To implement design initiatives upon completion of project scoping, tendering and contract preparation with the client.
• To liaise with the respective clients pertaining to the design specifications and requirements to ensure client satisfaction
• To prepare the scope of work, specifications, bill of quantities and tender documents in line with the client's needs and requirements.
• To compile further information for the manufacturing and software engineering phases of the project (ref a detailed 'data pack') to ensure successful implementation.
