Placements24 is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to join our Durban-based operations team in the energy sector. The role focuses on design, implementation, and maintenance of electrical systems within power generation facilities, ensuring reliability and safety while supporting critical regional infrastructure.

You will collaborate with project managers, technicians, and vendors, prepare specifications and drawings, and assist with commissioning of new equipment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Minimum of 5 years in electrical engineering focusing on power generation or heavy industry.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD Electrical, ETAP, and SCADA systems.
• Knowledge of electrical codes, standards, and safety in the energy sector.

This role focuses on the design, implementation, and maintenance of electrical systems within power generation facilities, ensuring optimal performance, reliability, and safety. Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain electrical systems and equipment for power generation plants, including generators, switchgear, transformers, and distribution networks.
• Perform electrical system troubleshooting, diagnostics, and root cause analysis to resolve operational issues promptly.
• Conduct electrical safety inspections and ensure compliance with all national and international safety standards and regulations relevant to the Energy Sector .
• Prepare technical specifications, engineering drawings, and maintenance documentation for electrical installations and upgrades.
• Collaborate with project managers, technicians, and external vendors on electrical aspects of new installations, retrofits, and maintenance programs.
• Assist in the commissioning of new electrical equipment and systems, verifying performance against design specifications in Durban .

Requirements
