Job summary

Onboarded Solutions is seeking an Electrical Engineer or Technologist for our Cape Town office. The role focuses on electrical building services, MV distribution, and reticulation across public and private sector projects.

Applicants should have 5–10 years of post-qualification experience, relevant ECSA registration, and strong AutoCAD/Relux skills. Ownership of project scope, tender docs, and site meetings is expected to ensure project success.

Qualifications

• B.Eng, B.Sc (Eng) or B.Tech in Electrical Engineering.
• 5–10 years’ post-qualification experience.
• Registration with ECSA as a Pr Eng or Pr Tech Eng preferred.
• At least 2 years’ post-registration experience preferred.
• Experience in building services and engineering projects.
• Experience with urban/rural reticulation and MV networks.
• Experience with electrical and electronic installations, solar PV and fire detection systems.
• Exposure to health, education and public works projects.

Responsibilities

• Conduct scoping and condition assessments of electrical installations.
• Plan and design electrical building services, urban and rural reticulation, and MV distribution projects.
• Design electrical elements for water and wastewater infrastructure projects, including pump stations and pipeline systems.
• Prepare tender documentation.
• Administer electrical engineering contracts from inception through to completion.
• Provide construction oversight and monitor compliance with design and quality requirements.
• Review contractors’ Quality Control Plans and Construction Method Statements.
• Attend and lead site and technical meetings.
• Address technical queries and resolve project-related issues.
• Prepare project reports, progress reports, financial status reports and close‑out documentation.
• Maintain effective communication with clients and project professionals.

A leading national consulting engineering firm is looking for an experienced Electrical Engineer or Technologist to join its Cape Town office.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced professional with a strong background in electrical building services, reticulation, MV distribution and engineering projects.

Location: Cape Town - Northern Suburbs

Key Responsibilities

Software Requirements

• Proficiency in Relux lighting design software.
• AutoCAD proficiency.
• DIALux experience is advantageous.
• Revit MEP experience is advantageous.
• Familiarity with BIM software, particularly Autodesk Construction Cloud, is advantageous.

• Own reliable transport.
• Valid driver’s licence.
