Job summary

City of Tshwane is seeking a Superintendent: Trades to lead the Distribution Operations and Maintenance team at Centurion Depot. The role focuses on delivering safe, reliable electricity distribution and on optimizing resource use through strong leadership and technical oversight.

Applicants must hold a Red Seal Electrician certificate, have several years in a local authority electrical network, and be willing to work shifts.

Qualifications

• Trade certificate as Electrician (Red Seal) is required.
• At least four years’ relevant experience in a local authority electrical network environment.
• Supervisory experience will be an added advantage.
• Valid Code B driving licence and own transport.
• Willingness to work shifts, overtime and standby when required.
• Must undergo a criminal record check and consent to fingerprinting by Tshwane Metro Police.

Responsibilities

• Manage maintenance operations.
• Manage and evaluate the construction of projects.
• Coordinate the planning of maintenance, construction, network extensions and resources.
• Identify specific training needs and ensure the development of operational personnel.
• Manage and administrate operational activities.
• Identify and request operational logistical needs.
• Structure financial implementation requirements for operational vote numbers to ensure availability of financial resources.
• Implement operational policies and approved strategies to ensure effective and productive operations.
• Enforce practices to ensure safety.
• Enhance community involvement to establish economic prosperity and address consumer needs.
• Manage operational personnel and activities for delegated responsibilities.
