Job summary

The City of Ekurhuleni seeks a Senior Engineer for Operations & Maintenance to oversee the municipal electrical distribution network in Gauteng. You will lead maintenance, asset management, safety, and compliance to ensure reliable service.

Responsibilities include budgeting, supervising staff and contractors, and driving strategic improvements while preserving high standards across the network.

Qualifications

• B Degree in Electrical Engineering (Heavy Current) or equivalent NQF 7.
• ECSA registration as professional engineer or equivalent.
• Code B driver's license is required.
• Experience with operation, maintenance and refurbishment of municipal electrical networks.
• Competency certificate is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Oversee operations and maintenance of the total electrical distribution network.
• Develop O&M targets aligned with tactical plans and strategic objectives.
• Advise on installations to mitigate risks and reduce failures.
• Monitor quality to ensure standards and codes are met.
• Manage depot personnel, budget usage, and work ethic.
• Perform administrative duties and record-keeping.
• Manage section budget and procurement, ensuring compliance.
• Ensure compliance with legislation and council policies.
• Supervise contractors and consultants for maintenance projects.
• Implement and maintain asset management strategies and standards.
