Job summary

Placements24 in East London is seeking an Electrical Distribution Engineer to design, plan, and maintain distribution networks, including substations, overhead lines, and underground cables.

You will perform load forecasting, network analysis, and fault studies, develop expansion plans, and oversee installation and maintenance of assets while ensuring compliance with codes, safety standards, and regulations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with specialization in power or distribution systems.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in electrical distribution engineering.
• Proficiency in distribution design software (CYME, PowerWorld) and GIS systems.
• Strong understanding of protection schemes for distribution networks.
• Experience with overhead line design and underground cable systems.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Design and engineer electrical distribution systems, including substations, overhead lines, and underground cables.
• Perform load forecasting, network analysis, and fault studies for distribution networks.
• Develop plans for network expansion, reinforcement, and upgrades.
• Oversee the installation, commissioning, and maintenance of distribution assets.
• Ensure compliance with all applicable electrical codes, safety standards, and environmental regulations.
