Job summary

Placements24 seeks an experienced Electrical Distribution Engineer to join its infrastructure team in Paarl, Western Cape. Design, plan, and maintain the regional distribution network to ensure reliable and safe power supply for customers.

Minimum six years in distribution design and operation; strong MV/LV knowledge; experience with PSS/E, ETAP, or DigSilent PowerFactory. Pr.Eng. registration with ECSA is advantageous.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in electrical distribution network design and operation.
• Strong knowledge of power system analysis software (PSS/E, ETAP, DigSilent PowerFactory).
• Experience in project management and contract administration.
• Professional Engineer (Pr. Eng.) registration with ECSA is advantageous.
• Willingness to travel to project sites within Paarl, Western Cape.

Responsibilities

• Design and plan upgrades and extensions to the distribution network.
• Conduct load flow, fault level, and stability studies.
• Develop specifications for electrical equipment such as transformers, switchgear, and cables.
• Oversee installation, commissioning, and maintenance of distribution network components.
• Ensure compliance with electrical codes, safety regulations, and environmental standards.
• Investigate and resolve power quality issues and network disturbances.
• Manage projects related to distribution network improvements.
• Liaise with regulatory bodies, customers, and internal departments on distribution network matters.
• Perform site inspections and provide technical guidance to field crews.
