Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an Electrical Design Specialist for the Upington, Northern Cape area. The role involves translating client needs into detailed electrical schematics, calculations, and specifications, ensuring compliance with codes and standards.

You will work with architects, engineers, and project managers to deliver integrated designs. The ideal candidate has a strong electrical fundamentals, 4+ years in design, and proficiency with AutoCAD and Revit MEP.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or National Diploma in Electrical Engineering.
• 4+ years of experience in electrical design, preferably in a consulting environment.
• Proficiency with CAD software (AutoCAD, Revit MEP) and strong knowledge of electrical power systems.
• Familiarity with building codes and electrical regulations.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; good communication.

Responsibilities

• Design electrical systems for commercial, industrial, and residential projects, including lighting, power distribution, and earthing systems.
• Prepare detailed electrical drawings, schematics, and layouts using CAD software.
• Conduct load calculations, fault current analysis, and cable sizing.
• Specify electrical equipment and materials, preparing BOQs.
• Ensure designs comply with national and local electrical codes and standards (e.g., SANS 10142).
• Coordinate electrical designs with architects, structural, and mechanical teams.
• Review shop drawings and provide technical support during construction.
• Conduct site visits for inspections and to verify design compliance.
