Job summary

Placements24 in George, Western Cape, seeks an Electrical Design Engineer to lead detailed electrical system designs for diverse projects in a collaborative hybrid setting.

A Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering and 3–5 years’ design experience are required; proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical and knowledge of SANS standards are essential.

You will perform load calculations, prepare schematics and BOMs, liaise with project teams, and contribute to compliant, high‑quality infrastructure solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering required.
• 3–5 years of electrical system design experience.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical or similar software.
• Familiarity with South African SANS standards for electrical installations.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, good communication.

Responsibilities

• Develop detailed electrical designs, schematics, and layouts for power distribution, lighting, and control systems.
• Perform load calculations, circuit protection design, and grounding system design.
• Ensure designs comply with national electrical codes, standards, and best practices.
• Collaborate with project managers and other engineering disciplines to integrate electrical systems into overall project plans.
• Conduct site visits for initial assessments, design verification, and construction support.
• Prepare technical specifications and Bill of Materials for procurement.
