WhatJobs Direct is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer to develop electrical designs for commercial buildings in a hybrid role combining remote design work with on-site client consultations in Benoni, Gauteng.

The role focuses on power distribution, lighting, and low-voltage systems, ensuring compliance with relevant codes and energy efficiency standards while coordinating with architects and other engineers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 3+ years of experience in electrical design for building services (commercial).
• Proficiency in electrical CAD software (AutoCAD Electrical, Revit MEP).
• Solid understanding of power distribution, lighting design, and low-voltage systems.
• Knowledge of building codes and standards (SANS 10142) is preferred.
• Excellent communication and coordination skills.

Responsabilités

• Design electrical systems for commercial buildings including power, lighting, emergency power, and fire alarm systems.
• Create detailed electrical drawings, schematics, and specifications using CAD software.
• Perform load calculations and lighting level analyses.
• Ensure designs comply with codes, regulations, and energy efficiency standards.
• Coordinate with architects and mechanical engineers for integrated building solutions.
• Conduct site visits for surveys and monitor construction progress.
• Liaise with clients, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure project delivery.
• Assist procurement and review vendor submittals.
• Troubleshoot design issues during construction.
