Job summary
Placements24 in Stellenbosch is seeking an Electrical Design and Development Engineer to lead the conception and realization of next‑generation electrical systems. You will drive design from concept through prototyping, testing, and validation, translating complex requirements into high‑performance solutions.
You will collaborate with mechanical and QA teams in a research and development setting, apply rigorous analysis and simulation, and document designs to enable manufacturability and IP
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in electrical design and product development.
- Proficiency with Altium Designer and circuit simulation tools.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop innovative electrical systems and sub-systems for new products.
- Conduct detailed analysis, simulation, and modeling of electrical circuits and components.
- Create schematics, PCB layouts, and BOMs.
- Build and test prototypes; perform functional testing against specifications.
- Troubleshoot and resolve design issues during development.
- Collaborate with mechanical engineers on system integration and form factor.
- Prepare technical documentation including reports and test plans.
- Work with manufacturing and QA to ensure design for manufacturability.
- Contribute to IP generation through innovative design solutions.
