Placements24 is seeking a Lead Educational Technologist in Gauteng to spearhead technology integration within educational programs. The role focuses on evaluating, recommending, and deploying new technologies to enhance pedagogy and student outcomes in a dynamic learning environment.

You will lead cross‑functional teams, manage LMS platforms, and design training for faculty and staff, ensuring secure, scalable infrastructure and ongoing innovation in education technology.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Educational Technology, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in educational technology, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
• Extensive experience with LMS platforms (Moodle, Blackboard, Canvas) and related educational software.
• Strong understanding of pedagogical principles and how technology can support them.
• Proven ability to lead technical projects and manage cross-functional teams.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
• Experience in developing and delivering technical training.
• Familiarity with IT infrastructure and network concepts relevant to educational settings.

Responsibilities

• Lead the strategic planning, implementation, and evaluation of educational technology initiatives.
• Provide technical leadership and support for learning management systems (LMS) and other educational platforms.
• Develop and deliver training programs for faculty and staff on effective use of educational technologies.
• Research and pilot new technologies to enhance teaching and learning effectiveness.
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to educational software and hardware.
• Collaborate with IT departments to ensure the security, reliability, and scalability of educational technology infrastructure.
• Manage the budget for educational technology acquisitions and maintenance.
• Stay abreast of emerging trends and best practices in educational technology.
