Job Description

Driving impactful storytelling across global channels, this editorial leadership role shapes strategic messaging and content packaging to support conservation priorities. Including editorial oversight, visual storytelling, digital media, and donor communications, the position ensures all messaging is strategically aligned to engage diverse stakeholders and enhance organisational visibility.

Guiding daily operations with a supportive, coaching-oriented mindset, the job takes full ownership of the editorial function and visibility planning. Operating with significant autonomy, you will manage content workflows, establish quality standards, and collaborate with teams to translate complex data into clear, compelling narratives that drive key outcomes.

Requirements

A completed degree in Journalism, Communications or related field.

Lead, develop, and coach members of the editorial team through structured support, regular feedback, practical training, and clear direction.

Allocate and oversee editorial assignments to ensure balanced workloads, direct accountability, and timely delivery.

Establish and uphold robust editorial standards, workflows, and quality-control processes across all communications outputs.

Commission, brief, and guide internal and external writers, producers, and content contributors.

Manage direct reports' performance in line with organisational expectations while building the team's capacity to deliver independently.

Take complete ownership of the editorial function, significantly reducing the requirement for routine editorial oversight from executive leadership.

Own and manage the organizational visibility calendar, proactively identifying, planning, and delivering strategic communications opportunities, milestones, campaigns, and announcements.

Conceptualise and produce integrated, high-quality content packages—combining written, visual, digital, and media elements—tailored for governments, donors, media partners, and digital audiences.

Write and produce content across diverse formats, including press releases, web stories, newsletters, case studies, social media, media materials, and executive communications.

Translate complex field data, technical programme details, and monitoring and evaluation insights into clear, engaging impact stories.

Partner with field teams and multidisciplinary units to gather authentic stories, representing communities, landscapes, and partners accurately.

Align editorial priorities with overarching fundraising requirements, partner commitments, and external media trends.
