Mitchell House is an independent English-medium school in Polokwane founded in 1994. The school pursues a holistic educational philosophy that includes, academic, sporting and cultural excellence as primary goals.

The School seeks to recruit a suitable applicant to fill the following position:

Position: ECD – Grade 0 Teacher

Employment Type: Permanent Contract.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver engaging, age-appropriate lessons that support early literacy, numeracy, and holistic development.
  • Create a nurturing, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment that encourages curiosity and independence.
  • Incorporate play-based and inquiry-driven learning, drawing on Reggio Emilia principles where appropriate.
  • Assess and document learner progress through observation, portfolios, and reports.
  • Communicate effectively with parents and collaborate with colleagues to support each child’s growth.
  • Participate in school activities (including some Saturdays), professional development, and uphold school policies.

Requirements:

  • Passion for early childhood education and child-centred learning.
  • Strong classroom management and organisational skills.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • SACE registered with an appropriate university degree and professional qualification.

Applicants must submit a police clearance certificate and proof that they are not registered on the Child Protection Register (CPR) or National Register of Sex Offenders (NRSO).

A minimum of 3 years teaching experience will be advantageous.
