Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an Early Intervention Specialist to join our Paarl-based team serving infants and toddlers with developmental delays. You will provide direct services, coach families, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to promote development in natural environments.

The role focuses on family-centered planning, IFSP development, and evidence-based intervention. A Master's in a related field and experience with young children are preferred; driving to home visits is required.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Early Childhood Special Education, Child Development, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field.
• Experience working with infants and toddlers with developmental delays or disabilities.
• Knowledge of early intervention principles, practices, and service delivery systems.
• Strong assessment and intervention skills.
• Excellent communication, counseling, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with families and multidisciplinary teams.
• Proficiency in record-keeping and documentation.
• Valid driver's license and access to reliable transportation for home visits within Paarl area.
• Patience, empathy, and a genuine commitment to supporting young children and their families.
• Background checks and relevant certifications are required.

Responsibilities

• Conduct developmental screenings and assessments for infants and toddlers.
• Develop and implement individualized family service plans (IFSPs).
• Provide direct early intervention services in the child's natural environment (home, childcare settings).
• Coach and support families in implementing strategies to promote child development.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of professionals, including therapists and educators.
• Make referrals to appropriate community resources and services as needed.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date client records and documentation.
• Advocate for the needs of children and families within the early intervention system.
• Plan and facilitate parent support groups and educational workshops.
• Stay informed about best practices and research in early intervention.
