Job summary

Spitz is seeking an experienced E-Commerce Shopify Developer in Bryanston, Johannesburg to support AVI Footwear & Apparel. You will manage Shopify back-end, product data and stock synchronization, working closely with external Shopify developers on retainer.

You will design SAP/ERP integrations, payment gateways, 3PL connections and drive site performance and analytics integration for a premium omnichannel experience.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years’ experience in a similar E-Commerce role.
• Experience with Shopify and frontend web development.
• Familiarity with Google Analytics and digital marketing tools.
• Strong problem-solving and collaboration with external Shopify developers.
• Matric essential; IT/Web Development qualification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manage Shopify backend architecture, product metafields, pricing and stock sync.
• Coordinate with external Shopify developers on end-to-end E-Commerce solutions.

Grow, Innovate, Succeed! We have an incredible opportunity for an E-Commerce Shopify Developer at Spitz in Bryanston, Johannesburg. In this role, you will provide technical support to the AVI Footwear & Apparel E-Commerce websites. The job incumbent will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the website back-end processes to ensure a premium omnichannel experience for our E-Commerce customers, working closely with internal and external teams, including being the primary liaison with external Shopify developers on retainer. Manage and be responsible for Technical Support and Monitoring, Website Integration Management, Website Development (Shopify & Systems) and Website Back End Management.

Key Areas Of Impact

• Technical Support and Monitoring
• Act as primary escalation point for all technical investigations and support issues
• Troubleshoot and resolve platform issues
• Perform root cause analysis on recurring issues
• Orders flow
• Product data (pricing, inventory, metafields)
• Integration issues between Shopify and 3PL, payment gateways and middleware
• Monitor Website reliability and performance
• Availability, uptime, responsiveness, technical SEO
• Collaborate with ITSS on technical support and monitoring

• Web Integration Management
• Facilitate design, development and deployment of integration solutions (SAP, API’s and Middleware)
• Monitor and manage integration functionality
• ERP (SAP) through SAP PI/PO interfaces and SAP web applications
• Payment Gateways
• 3PL/Courier partners
• Marketing and tracking tools
• Automate data ingestion from ERP and external API systems into Shopify
• Design architecture and blueprint for Shopify, SAP ERP, External API’s, 3PL and payment gateway solutions
• Troubleshoot and resolve integration issues
• Collaborate with ITSS on Website Integration Management

• Manage Shopify backend architecture

• Ensure accurate product, pricing, and inventory sync from upstream systems
• Optimise site structure for scalability and performance
• Maintain dev and production environments
• Ensure data integrity across Shopify and integrated systems
• Coordinate and track prompt resolution of technical queries with third party developers on a retainer, including but not limited to:
• Shopify platform – Front end site maintenance & back-end site maintenance, product metafields & stock updates
• Payment gateway – Correct postings & payments clearing
• 3PL Courier – Waybill integration & E-waybill system,
• Drive continuous improvement and optimization with partners
• Support analytics implementation (Google Analytics, tag management)
• Collaborate with ITSS (SAP team) on Website Back End Management

• Website Development (Shopify and Systems)
• Together with external Shopify developers, build and configure E-Commerce end-to-end solutions for the business in Shopify
• Facilitate development and deployment of new features and enhancements
• Support frontend (UX/UI) improvements, website changes, visual merchandising and checkout enhancements
• Manage testing and QA processes across environments
• Maintain and optimise Shopify themes (Liquid, HTML, CSS, JavaScript)
• Manage and optimize Shopify features and functionality
• Support A/B testing and conversion optimising initiatives through technical implementation
• Manage code deployments, version control, and QA processes

What It Takes To Succeed

Experience that set you up for success:

• 3-5 years’ experience in a similar role (E-Commerce domain)
• Experience in the retail sector, preferably fashion
• Experienced with Shopify
• Experience with digital channels including Google Adwords/SEO/PPC & email marketing
• Analytics reporting software (Google analytics)
• Core Web Dev languages: Liquid, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, C#
• Experience in MS SQL in Azure, REST API’s, SAP Process Orchestration (SAP PO), GraphQL
