Job summary

ARVO is seeking an entrepreneurial, hands-on leader to drive and grow its integrated retail, e-commerce and production ecosystem in South Africa. The role combines strategy, people leadership, systems development and day-to-day operations to deliver sustainable growth and profitability.

The ideal candidate will manage a cross-functional team of about 350 people, leverage data and AI to scale operations, and work across local and international initiatives while maintaining a strong customer focus

Qualifications

• A relevant tertiary qualification in Business Management, Commerce, Finance, Economics, Marketing or Engineering, or an MBA.
• Senior leadership experience with P&L responsibility in e-commerce or integrated commercial environment.
• Proven ability to lead a large, multidisciplinary team (~350 people).
• Strong entrepreneurial mindset and commercial acumen.
• Fluent in English and Afrikaans; willingness to travel internationally.

The client is a living ecosystem where agriculture, food, hospitality, design, retail and technology come together. From the farm and production floor to the shop shelf, online basket and customer's doorstep, they strive for exceptional products, clear provenance and extraordinary attention to detail.

The client is looking for a commercially astute, entrepreneurial and hands-on leader to lead and further grow their expanding retail, e-commerce and production environment.

The role brings together e-commerce, product development and production, procurement, retail, merchandising, marketing, warehousing, fulfilment and distribution. Annual turnover is about R550 million.

The ideal candidate is an entrepreneurial leader who is equally comfortable with strategy, people, systems and day-to-day operations.

Responsibilities:

• Lead the client's retail, e-commerce and production operations as one integrated ecosystem.
• Build a customer-centric business supported by excellent service, people and systems.

• Proven skill in leading and developing a large, multidisciplinary team of some 350 people.
• A good understanding of e-commerce technology, data, digital platforms and the practical application of AI.
• The ability to translate strategy into priorities, actions and measurable results.
• A hands-on approach with an exceptional eye for quality, product and detail.
• Fluent in both English and Afrikaans.
• Willing to travel internationally a few times per year.
