Job summary

Babylonstoren seeks an entrepreneurial Executive Head to unify retail, e-commerce and production across a national and international footprint. The role oversees a large, multidisciplinary team, procurement, marketing, warehousing and distribution, driving growth and exceptional quality.

You will translate strategy into priorities, manage the P&L, budgets and long-term profitability, and leverage data, AI and digital platforms to scale.

Qualifications

• MBA or equivalent qualification with strong business acumen.
• Senior leadership experience in a commercial/e-commerce environment.
• P&L exposure in e-commerce or integrated operations.
• Entrepreneurial mindset and strong commercial acumen.
• Proven ability to lead a large multidisciplinary team (~350 people).
• Understanding of e-commerce tech, data, digital platforms and AI applications.
• Ability to translate strategy into priorities and measurable actions.
• Hands-on approach with a focus on quality, product and detail.
• Fluent in English and Afrikaans.
• Willing to travel internationally a few times per year.

• Lead Babylonstoren's retail, e-commerce and production operations as one integrated ecosystem.
• Build a customer-centric business supported by excellent service, people and systems.
• Develop the product range and identify new growth opportunities.
• Manage the P&L, budget, revenue, margins and long-term profitability.
• Monitor inventory, costs, service levels and operational performance.
• Build, develop and motivate a strong management team with clear accountability.
• Use data, technology and AI to work smarter, faster and at greater scale.
• Stay abreast of local and international trends and translate new ideas into practical improvements.
• Collaborate closely with other Babylonstoren teams and commercial initiatives abroad.

We are looking for a commercially astute, entrepreneurial and hands-on leader to lead and further grow

Babylonstoren's expanding retail, e-commerce and production environment.

The role brings together e-commerce, product development & production, procurement, retail,

merchandising, marketing, warehousing, fulfilment and distribution. Annual turnover is about R 550 million.

We are looking for an entrepreneurial leader who is equally comfortable with strategy, people, systems and day-to-day operations.

Requirements:

• A relevant tertiary qualification in Business Management, Commerce, Finance, Economics, Marketing, Engineering or an MBA.
• Relevant commercial experience, including in a senior leadership role.
• P&L experience in e-commerce or an integrated commercial environment.
• Strong entrepreneurial mindset and excellent commercial acumen.
• Proven skill in leading and developing a large, multidisciplinary team (some 350 people).
• A good understanding of e-commerce technology, data, digital platforms and the practical application of AI.
• The ability to translate strategy into priorities, actions and measurable results.
