Job summary

Merand Recruitment is seeking a responsible driver in Somerset West to transport students and staff to events, camps, and tours. The role includes airport transfers and occasional overnight trips, with a focus on safety and vehicle upkeep.

The successful candidate will have professional driving experience, be reliable and flexible, and able to work independently or as part of a team while maintaining accurate vehicle records and complying with relevant policies.

Qualifications

• Experience driving in a professional capacity.

• Coordinate regular vehicle inspections, maintenance and servicing.

• Hold a valid Police Clearance (not older than 2 years) and comply with child protection policies.
• Assist with other reasonable tasks as requested by management.

DUTIES

Duties will include transporting students and staff to sporting fixtures and events, airport transfers, school camps, tours and other institute-related activities which may occasionally require overnight stays and travel away from home.

THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE MUST

• have experience in driving in a professional capacity;
• be responsible, reliable and flexible;
• be able to work independently and as part of a team;
• have a good command of the English/Afrikaans language;
• have a working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets;
• coordinate regular inspections, maintenance and servicing of all vehicles;
• ensure that all vehicles remain roadworthy, are properly licensed and comply with relevant regulations;
• ensure that all vehicles are kept clean, presentable and in good working condition at all times;
• maintain accurate records of vehicle inspections, servicing, maintenance and license renewals;
• hold a valid Police Clearance (not older than 2 years) and comply with child protection policies;
• assist with other reasonable tasks as requested by management from time to time.

HOURS OF WORK

The nature of this position requires flexibility in working hours to accommodate the operational needs of the institute.

The successful candidate must be willing and available to work outside normal school hours including early mornings, evenings, weekends and school holidays, as required.
