Job summary

Placements24 in Richards Bay, KwaZulu-Natal, is seeking a Disability Support Specialist to join a residential care team. You will provide person-centered support to residents with disabilities, assist with daily living, health monitoring, and community participation, while promoting independence and inclusion.

The role requires empathy, strong communication, teamwork with therapists and carers, and flexibility for shifts including evenings and weekends.

Qualifications

• Relevant qualification or certification in disability support, community services, or a related field.
• Experience with residents who have disabilities in a residential setting is preferred.
• Strong communication, interpersonal skills and empathy.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct disability support, daily living help, and medication management per care plans.
• Create and implement individualized support plans focused on residents' goals and choices.
• Promote independence, inclusion, and participation in community activities.
• Monitor residents' health, attend appointments, and follow medical advice.
• Document observations and progress accurately and timely.
• Collaborate with therapists and external agencies for coordinated care.
