Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Director of Sports Facilities Management to lead a portfolio of premier sports venues in the Polokwane region. You will shape long-term plans, oversee operations, manage budgets, and drive safety, sustainability, and user experience across all facilities.

The role requires a Master’s degree and a decade of progressive facilities management experience, including senior leadership. Strong leadership and negotiation skills are essential for success in this executive

Qualifications

• Master's degree in facilities or related field.
• 10+ years in sports facilities management with at least 5 years in senior leadership overseeing multiple large venues.
• Proven track record in strategic planning, budget management and capital project oversight.
• Deep understanding of building systems, safety regulations, and operational best practices for sports facilities.
• Strong leadership, team management and communication skills.
• Excellent negotiation and stakeholder management abilities.
• Experience with contract management and vendor relations.
• Knowledge of sustainability practices and green building principles is a plus.
• CFM certifications are highly desirable.
• Comprehensive understanding of leisure and sports industry operations.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement long-term strategic plans for management and development of sports facilities.
• Oversee day-to-day operations of all venues for optimal performance and user satisfaction.
• Manage annual operating budgets, capex plans, and maintenance schedules.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of facility managers and staff.
• Oversee procurement for services, equipment and supplies.
• Engage stakeholders including sports organizations and local government.
• Implement best practices in maintenance, sustainability and energy efficiency.
• Oversee security and emergency preparedness plans.
• Identify opportunities for upgrades, renovations and new construction.
