Job summary

Bridgena Barnard & Associates is seeking an experienced Diesel Technician for a commercial fleet role in Cape Town's Northern Suburbs. The ideal candidate will perform diagnostics, servicing, maintenance and repairs on heavy commercial trucks, ensuring roadworthy and reliable vehicles. A trade test and extensive hands-on experience are required.

Salary ranges between R30,000 and R45,000 per month with overtime and benefits negotiable based on qualifications. Location: Northern Suburbs, Cape Town.

Qualifications

• Completed Diesel Mechanic Trade Test or equivalent qualification.
• Strong diagnostic and fault-finding abilities.
• Minimum 8 years hands-on experience on commercial trucks.

Responsibilities

• Carry out routine servicing and preventative maintenance on commercial vehicles.
• Diagnose and repair diesel engine faults and mechanical failures.
• Perform fault-finding on engine, transmission, clutch, braking and suspension systems.
• Conduct inspections and identify potential mechanical problems before breakdowns.
• Carry out repairs to ensure vehicles meet roadworthiness and operational requirements.
• Use diagnostic equipment to identify faults.
• Maintain accurate service and repair records.
• Assist with breakdown and fleet-related repairs as required.

DIESEL TECHNICIAN COMMERCIAL FLEET

Location: Northern Suburbs, Cape Town, Western Cape

Salary: R30,000 R45,000 Basic Salary per Month

Market Related | Negotiable | Overtime Available

A well-established transport and fleet operation in Cape Towns Northern Suburbs is seeking an experienced Diesel Technician / Qualified Diesel Mechanic to join their workshop team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the diagnostics, servicing, maintenance and mechanical repairs of a commercial vehicle fleet, ensuring vehicles remain roadworthy, reliable and operational.

Minimum Requirements

• Completed Diesel Mechanic Trade Test
• Technical / Mechanical Schooling or equivalent technical qualification
• Minimum 8 years hands-on experience working on commercial trucks
• Strong diagnostic and fault-finding ability
• Proven experience with heavy-duty diesel engines and commercial vehicle drivetrains

Good working knowledge of:

• MAN Trucks / Volvo Trucks / Mercedes-Benz Commercial Vehicles
• Experience with preventative maintenance and scheduled fleet servicing

• Ability to diagnose mechanical, electrical and electronic faults
• Strong knowledge of diesel fuel systems, cooling systems, braking systems and driveline components
• Ability to work independently and accurately under workshop and fleet deadlines
• Valid drivers licence would be advantageous

Key Responsibilities

Remuneration

R30,000 R45,000 Basic Salary per month, depending on qualifications and relevant commercial vehicle experience.

Overtime is available and remunerated accordingly.

Salary is negotiable based on experience and technical capability.
