Job summary

Vine Recruitment is seeking a skilled Forklift Technician/Heavy Equipment Technician to perform routine maintenance and diagnose faults on various equipment in a safe workshop environment. You will inspect engines, hydraulics and electrical systems, and ensure components are repaired or replaced to keep operations running smoothly.

Ideal candidates have hands-on welding/fabrication abilities, strong problem-solving skills, and an independent work approach.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as forklift/ heavy equipment technician or diesel mechanic.
• Strong mechanical and electrical fault-finding skills.
• Experience with hydraulic and pneumatic systems; welding/fabrication advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine preventative maintenance on forklifts.
• Inspect engines, transmissions, brakes, electrical systems and wiring.
• Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults using diagnostic equipment.
• Test hydraulic and pneumatic systems and identify leaks or faulty components.
• Repair, rebuild and replace components including transmissions, motors and steering systems.
• Weld, solder and fabricate metal components where required.
• Test repaired equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation.
• Order replacement parts and assist with stock control.
• Maintain accurate service, repair and maintenance records.
• Follow all safety procedures and manufacturer specifications.
• Maintain a clean, safe and organised workshop.

• Welding and fabrication skills will be advantageous.
• Ability to work independently and solve technical problems.
• Valid driver's licence preferred.
• Relevant technical qualification or trade certification will be an advantage.
