Job summary

Vine Recruitment is seeking an experienced Diesel Mechanic / Forklift Technician for a well-established operation in Atlantis, Western Cape. The role focuses on the maintenance, fault-finding and repair of electric, diesel and LPG forklifts, ensuring safe and reliable vehicle performance.

You will diagnose mechanical and electrical faults, conduct routine servicing, and maintain detailed records. Welding and fabrication skills are advantageous; a valid licence is preferred.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as Forklift Technician/Heavy Equipment Technician/Diesel Mechanic.
• Strong mechanical and electrical fault-finding skills.
• Experience with hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
• Welding and fabrication skills are advantageous.
• Valid driver's licence preferred. Relevant technical qualification or trade certification will be an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine preventative maintenance on forklifts.
• Inspect engines, transmissions, brakes, electrical systems and wiring.
• Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults using diagnostic equipment.
• Test hydraulic and pneumatic systems and identify leaks or faulty components.
• Repair, rebuild and replace components including transmissions, motors and steering systems.
• Weld, solder and fabricate metal components where required.
• Test repaired equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation.
• Order replacement parts and assist with stock control.
• Maintain accurate service, repair and maintenance records.
• Follow all safety procedures and manufacturer specifications.
• Maintain a clean, safe and organised workshop.
