Job summary

Staff Solutions Recruitment is seeking a qualified Diesel and/or Petrol Mechanic with forklift or material handling equipment experience. The role requires a Trade Test Certificate, Code 8 / light vehicle licence where applicable, and a forklift operator licence.

Qualifications

  • Matric / Grade 12 or equivalent qualification.
  • Qualified Diesel and/or Petrol Mechanic with relevant experience working on forklifts or similar material handling equipment; alternatively, a qualified Forklift Mechanic.
  • Minimum of 35 years relevant mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical experience, preferably relating to forklifts and material handling equipment.
  • General working knowledge of auto-electrical systems, including ignition, starting, charging, and illumination systems.
  • Strong work ethic with honesty, reliability, commitment, dedication and pride in quality.
  • Highly developed prioritisation and multitasking skills with ability to analyse problems and implement solutions.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; fluency in English is essential.
  • Commitment to service excellence with high attention to detail and quality.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and take initiative.
  • Enthusiastic, self-motivated and proactive; able to work under pressure.
  • Ability to understand and apply health and safety measures and to interpret technical schematics and manuals.
  • Ability to read electrical and hydraulic diagrams and manufacturer specifications.
  • Ability to identify and utilise diagnostic equipment and tools.

  • Must be physically capable of performing the duties associated with the role, including carrying, lifting, and moving heavy objects, as well as standing and sitting for extended periods.
  • The role may also require frequent bending, stretching, twisting, reaching, and other physical movements involving the body, arms, and/or legs.
  • Must be willing and able to participate in standby duties and work overtime, including after-hours, weekends, or public holidays when reasonably required. This is necessary due to the specialised nature of the industry and the operational requirements of customers.
Qualifications and Licences
  • Relevant Trade Test Certificate Mechanic.
  • Code 8 / light motor vehicle driver's licence, where applicable to Field Service Technician duties.
  • Valid forklift operator licence.
  • Any additional relevant technical qualifications, certifications, or training relating to forklifts, material handling equipment, hydraulics, electrical systems, or diagnostics would be advantageous.
