Job summary

As a member of the Despatch team at The Village Bakery Group, you will ensure customers receive the right products, in the right quantities, and on time. You will work in a fast-paced FMCG environment, accurately picking orders, loading for dispatch, and using hand-held scanners to maintain stock accuracy while ensuring safe loading of vehicles for a smooth distribution network.

Despatch responsibilities include stock rotation and inventory control, with close collaboration with the production

Qualifications

• Forklift licence and ability to operate counterbalance or reach trucks.
• Experience in a warehouse, stores or logistics role, preferably FMCG or food manufacturing.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow procedures accurately.
• Understanding of stock rotation and basic inventory control.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills.
• Physically fit for manual handling.

As a member of the Despatch team, you will play a key role in ensuring our customers receive the right products, in the right quantities and on time. Working in a fast-paced FMCG environment, you will be responsible for accurately picking customer orders, preparing loads for dispatch, using hand-held scanning technology to maintain stock accuracy and ensuring vehicles are loaded safely and efficiently to support the smooth operation of our distribution network.

Your Responsibilities Will Include, But Are Not Limited To

• Picking orders accurately and efficiently
• Loading goods into freezer/ onto wagons safely
• Using hand-held scanners to log and track loads
• Stock handling and storage
• Maintaining accurate despatch records
• Working with the production team
• Following health and safety procedures
• Supporting stock rotation and inventory management

The successful candidate for this role will need to demonstrate the following skills, qualifications and attributes:

Essential

• Forklift Truck (FLT) licence (Counterbalance or Reach)
• Experience working in a warehouse, stores or logistics role, ideally within FMCG or food manufacturing
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow procedures accurately
• Understanding of stock rotation and basic inventory control
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities
• Strong teamwork and communication skills
• Physically fit for manual handling

Desirable

• Experience using warehouse management or stock control systems
• Knowledge of Food Safety, GMP or HACCP environments
• Experience within bakery or chilled food manufacturing
