Job summary

The Moorings and Sunsail in Cape Town seeks a Deckhand to join our yacht operations team. Responsibilities include cleaning, handling yachts, securing vessels, and assisting with loading and maintenance, with hours varying and weekends required.

You should be detail-oriented, a reliable team player, able to work unsupervised, and comfortable moving around yachts in a fast-paced environment.

This is a full-time, permanent position with opportunities aboard world-class charter yachts.

Qualifications

• Experience in yacht operations preferred.
• Ability to move around yachts/dock.
• Willingness to work weekends and flexible hours.

Responsibilities

• Clean and prepare boat surfaces (GRP, stainless steel, cushions) according to SOPs.
• Assist with moving and loading yachts and securing vessels.
• Log activities and surfaces attended to; keep spaces neat and safe.

Summary

We are currently recruiting for a Deckhand to join our team in Cape Town, South Africa. Working hours vary and you must be flexible to operational requirements. Please note that this is a full-time, permanent position.

What you will be doing:

• Cleaning and preparing boat surfaces that includes but not limited to GRP, stainless steel and cushions according to the guidelines and Standard Operating Procedures of THL
• Assist with the moving of yachts
• Assist with the loading of yachts when the relevant freighter arrives
• Securing yachts, which entails that batteries are switched off, hatches and doors locked, equipment removed of the boat and moorings lines adequately secured by end of each day
• Highlighting cosmetic and functional faults found on boats to the Commissioning Agent
• Cleaning, washing and polishing boat surfaces in preparation for protection
• Applying protective coatings and plastic covering on applicable yacht surfaces
• Log all activity and surfaces attended to accurately on the checksheets
• Keep work spaces neat and tidy
