Placements24 is seeking a proactive Cybersecurity Threat Hunter to join the security operations center in Richards Bay. The role focuses on identifying, investigating, and neutralizing sophisticated threats that bypass traditional security measures, using advanced analytics, threat intelligence, and security tools.

You will work with incident response and security engineering teams to improve defenses, stay ahead of cyber adversaries, and balance remote and in-office collaboration in a hybrid

Qualifications

• 3-5 years of cybersecurity experience with focus on threat intel or security operations.
• Proficient in analyzing network traffic, log data, and endpoint telemetry.
• Experience with scripting for automation (Python/PowerShell).

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute proactive threat hunting methodologies.
• Analyze datasets from SIEM/EDR and network logs to identify IOCs.

About the Role

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and execute proactive threat hunting methodologies to discover advanced threats.
• Analyze large datasets from various security tools (SIEM, EDR, network logs) to identify indicators of compromise (IOCs).
• Investigate suspicious activities, determine their scope and impact, and provide detailed findings.
• Develop new detection rules and techniques based on threat intelligence and hunt findings.
• Collaborate with the incident response team to ensure effective containment and eradication of threats.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the latest threats, vulnerabilities, and attacker TTPs (Tactics, Techniques, and Procedures).

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 3-5 years of experience in cybersecurity, with a focus on threat intelligence, incident response, or security operations.
• Proficiency in analyzing network traffic, log data, and endpoint telemetry.
• Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell) for automation and analysis.
• Strong understanding of cyber adversary TTPs and attack frameworks like MITRE ATT&CK.
• Relevant certifications (e.g., GCTI, GCFA, OSCP) are advantageous.
