Job summary

Groupe CFAO in South Africa seeks a CV Technician M/F to service and repair vehicles in the workshop. You will diagnose, service and repair vehicles using modern equipment, and work with customers to explain service details.

The role requires a MERSETA qualification, 5+ years of technician experience, a valid South African driver’s license and fluent English. You will also train apprentices, follow safety procedures, and keep up with group training requirements.

Qualifications

• Accredited motor vehicle technical qualification (MERSETA or equivalent).
• Completed motor trade apprenticeship (MERSETA).
• Minimum 5 years technician experience; valid South African driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Ensure productive hours sold align with hours available.
• Service and repair vehicles to workshop standards.
• Follow safety procedures for all tasks; use PPE.
• Provide diagnostics using modern equipment and interpret findings.
• Explain service details to customers when required.
• Coach and train apprentices and workshop staff.
• Attend technical trainings and keep up with group standards.
• Complete all job cards accurately and on time.

Minimum Requirements

• An accredited motor vehicle technical qualification at a recognised institution (MERSETA/ similar)
• A fully completed motor trade apprenticeship (MERSETA).
• Minimum 5 years’ Technician experience.
• Clean criminal record.
• Experience and training in the group manufacturer's range.
• A valid South African driver's license and own reliable transport.
• Verbal and written communication skills in English.

Job Specification:
The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

• Ensure sufficient productive hours are sold compared to productive hours available.
• Ensure the preparation, service, and repairs of all vehicles within the workshop are done according
  standard.
• Comply to and implement the correct safety procedures when executing a specific task or job.
• Utilize all required PPE equipment provided, including gloves, eye protection and safety shoes.
• Provide a diagnostic service for workshop vehicles (e.g. steering, brakes, transmission, drive train, fuel
  systems, electronic components etc.).
• Make use of modern diagnostic equipment to maximize effective vehicle service and to interpret findings.
• Diagnose faults by utilizing the recommended equipment.
• Service all required electronic equipment.
• Ensure all work on job cards are completed to specification and recorded accurately.
• Discuss and explain service details with customers as and when required.
• Achieve a continuous high performance work ethic of detail and deadline orientation.
• Ensure service comebacks are eliminated based on negligent work performed.
• Provide technical and/ or non-technical assistance to the workshop staff.
• Coach and train Dealer Repair Shop Assistants/ Apprentices.
• Attend qualified technical training, as and when required.
• Keep updated with Group-required web-based training and external courses.
• Ad hoc admin/ other responsibilities as and when required.
