Qualifications

• Minimum 6 years of crop production management experience.
• Proven knowledge of crops relevant to the Eastern Cape and best cultivation practices.

Responsibilities

• Plan and execute all stages of crop production including land preparation, planting, irrigation, pest control, and harvesting.
• Monitor crop growth and health and address issues to ensure yield and quality.
• Manage and direct farm labor for efficient and safe execution of tasks.
• Oversee maintenance and operation of farm machinery and equipment essential for crop production.
• Manage farm inputs such as seeds, fertilizers, and pesticides for efficient use.
• Maintain detailed records of production activities, yields, costs, and resources for reporting.

About the Role

Our client is seeking a results-oriented Crop Production Manager to oversee the cultivation and harvesting of key agricultural products in the Port Elizabeth region. This role focuses on maximizing crop yields, ensuring quality standards, and implementing efficient production processes from planting to sale. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in agronomy, plant science, and farm management, coupled with excellent leadership skills. Key Responsibilities

• Plan and execute all stages of crop production, including land preparation, planting, irrigation, pest control, and harvesting.
• Monitor crop growth and health, identifying and addressing any issues to ensure optimal yield and quality.
• Manage and direct farm labor, ensuring efficient and safe execution of tasks.
• Oversee the maintenance and operation of farm machinery and equipment essential for crop production.
• Manage farm inputs such as seeds, fertilizers, and pesticides, ensuring efficient and responsible use.
• Maintain detailed records of production activities, yields, costs, and resource utilization for reporting.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Agronomy, Horticulture, or a related field.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in crop production management or a similar agricultural role.
• Proven knowledge of various crops relevant to the Eastern Cape region and best cultivation practices.
• Experience with irrigation systems , pest and disease management, and soil fertility management.
• Strong leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
• Familiarity with agricultural technology and data management tools is a plus.
