Thepurpose of this role is to ensure accurate and timely management of importcostings, shipping documentation, and clearance processes that support thecompany’s supply chain efficiency. The role is responsible for coordinatingwith freight forwarders, suppliers, and internal stakeholders to resolvequeries, reconcile accounts, and maintain compliance with import policies. Throughdelivering precise costing records, managing shipment claims, and facilitatingsmooth customs clearance, the position contributes directly to operationaleffectiveness, financial accuracy, and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-daycostings, dealing with administration and interface with various departments
- Liaise withinternational and local freight forwarders aligning day-to-day requirements andresolve queries and shipping status
- Resolve SARSCustoms Stops, Tariff Queries and NRCS Stops.
- Investigate andresolve shipment shortages via claim procedure and supplier communication
- Adhere to theimport and clearance policies, procedures and schedules and all otherguidelines as defined by the company
- Reconcile monthlycreditor accounts and resolving outstanding queries and credits due
- Attend to clearanceand product queries in relation to documents, shortages and purchase orders
- Coordinate shippingand clearance, manage forwarder status reports and request for documents.
- Liaise with thebrand executives to facilitate customs clearing and delivery
- Manage day-to-dayshipping, costing, forwarder queries and requests and provide feedback to brandexecutives in reasonable time frames
- Ensure thatday-to-day costings are done accurately which includes complete documentationsets and sign-offs
- Accurately updatethe costing register with regard to costing status/numbers entries
- Daily update of theforward cover spreadsheet
- Assist receivingwith checking and scanning of shipments
Requirements
Experience and Knowledge
- Two (2) to three(3) years’ working experience in a FMCG environment is preferred
- Knowledge andunderstanding of the clearing and forwarding industry is preferred
- Knowledge of SARSCustoms Procedures and Tariff Headings is preferred
- Spreadsheetknowledge in drawing up and utilizing reports (daily costing/tracking sheets)
- Relevant technicalknowledge and technology driven
Skills and Education
- Matric withmathematics is essential, a tertiary qualification and/or a relevant diplomawill be an advantage
- Excellent computerliteracy in MS Word, Excel and Outlook
