Job description

The Corridor Manager is responsible for owning and optimising transport capacity across an assigned trade corridor, ensuring reliable, long-term capacity through strategic carrier partnerships, dedicated fleet agreements, and contracted commitments. As the single point of accountability for corridor capacity, the role develops a sustainable transport network, maintains contingency capacity to meet fluctuating demand, and maximises truck utilisation by reducing empty kilometres through effective backload planning.

The role is also accountable for driving cargo density by consolidating freight across customers, commodities, and business units to create efficient, high-volume transport flows. By enabling capacity certainty for Commercial teams and reliable transport solutions for Operations, the Corridor Manager supports business growth, service excellence, and profitability while promoting Steinweg’s 5 Cs culture of Value, Cash, Culture, Consistency, and Connectedness.

  • Develop, manage, and negotiate transport cost models with carriers – including fixed‑cost recovery models, dedicated fleet agreements, and rate structures.
  • Understand fleet economics – cost per kilometre, cost per tonne, round‑trip optimisation, asset utilisation, and lifecycle costing.
  • Conduct commercial negotiations with transporters on rates, contract terms, and service levels.
  • Own market intelligence on the corridor, including competitor pricing, cargo volumes, infrastructure developments, port congestion, and customer expansion plans.
  • Use intelligence to proactively position Steinweg and secure capacity ahead of demand.

  • Analyse historical data, current trends, and forecasted volumes to make informed decisions.
  • Use data to identify capacity gaps, predict transit times, optimise asset utilisation, monitor carrier performance, and identify opportunities to increase cargo density through consolidation and load matching.
  • Translate data insights into actionable strategies – move from reactive to proactive capacity management.
  • Ensure that data‑driven decisions become the standard approach for capacity planning and carrier engagement.
