They are seeking a dedicated and qualified Construction Health and Safety Officer (CHSO) to ensure a safe working environment on their sites in **Polokwane, Limpopo, ZA**. This critical role involves implementing and overseeing health and safety protocols, conducting risk assessments, and ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of construction site hazards and a proactive approach to safety management. You will play a vital role in preventing accidents and promoting a culture of safety consciousness among all site personnel. Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain the site-specific Health and Safety (H&S) plan.
• Conduct regular site safety inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
• Investigate all accidents, incidents, and near misses, preparing detailed reports and recommending corrective actions.
• Deliver H&S inductions and toolbox talks to site personnel and subcontractors.
• Ensure all site activities comply with the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHS Act) and other relevant legislation.
• Maintain accurate H&S records, including incident logs, inspection reports, and training registers.
• Liaise with clients, government authorities (e.g., Department of Labour), and project management on H&S matters.
• Monitor the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and ensure its availability and correct usage.
• Advise management on all aspects of health and safety related to construction activities.
• Promote a positive safety culture throughout the construction site.

Requirements

• A relevant qualification in Occupational Health and Safety, such as the NEBOSH Certificate or NOSA Diploma.
• Registration with a relevant professional body (e.g., SACPCMP as a Construction Safety Officer).
• A minimum of 4 years of experience as a Health and Safety Officer specifically within the construction industry.
• Thorough knowledge of the OHS Act (Act 85 of 1993) and its regulations.
• Experience in conducting risk assessments, HIRA, and incident investigations.
• Excellent communication, observational, and reporting skills.
• Ability to work effectively on construction sites and maintain a strong presence.
• Proficiency in basic computer applications for reporting.
• Experience in **Polokwane, Limpopo, ZA** construction projects is advantageous.
