Job summary

Bantubani Group invites qualified Construction Health and Safety Manager (CHSO) to lead safety management on RRM and road construction sites. You will implement systems, perform site inspections, and drive incident reporting and corrective actions.

Required are a National Diploma in Health and Safety or higher, CHSO registration, and a valid driver’s license. You will travel between sites and coordinate safety trainings and toolbox talks.

Qualifications

• Health and Safety National Diploma (NQF 6) or higher degree.
• Active CHSO registration with SACPMP is required.
• Excellent writing and communication skills are essential.

Job description

Bantubani Group (Pty) Ltd is inviting suitably qualified and experienced Construction Health and Safety Manager (CHSOs) for current and future Routine Road Maintenance (RRM) and Road Construction.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Implement and Maintaining the Health and Safety Management Systems on all sites
• Audit health and safety files and do site inspections
• Facilitate client audits
• Ensure that all accidents and incidents are properly recorded, reported and investigated and corrective and preventative measures are implemented
• Developing/Approving of Safety Files
• Induction of sub-contractors
• Ensuring general OHS compliance as per OHS Act
• Facilitating emergency preparedness and evacuation drills
• Adapt OHS-related documents to be client-specific
• Enforce risk identification, evaluation and development of safe work procedures
• Conduct or arrange a risk and hazard assessment and implement the necessary corrective actions to mitigate hazards and risks
• Ensure all site-related trainings and toolbox talks are conducted
• monthly site and committee meetings attendance
• Extensive travelling to different site will be required.

Desired Experience & Qualification

• Health and Safety National Diploma (NQF Level 6) or higher degree;
• Experience in SANRAL Projects (Road Construction and/or RRM), with a maximum of 4 projects which have a construction value of R80 million or more (inclusive of VAT);
• Active professional registration as a Construction Health and Safety Officer (CHSO) with SACPMP Non-negotiable.
• Must have a valid Driver’s License
