Job summary

Implats is seeking a Safety, Health and Environment professional to lead risk assessments in designated areas, update safety standards and report on risk controls. You will facilitate CURA-based risk assessments, conduct critical control analyses, and review significant incidents to refine risk profiles.

The role includes training line supervisors in investigations and risk methods. The ideal candidate has COMSOC 1/2 or SAMTRAC, blasting or trade certificates, and 4+ years in SHE/risk with

Qualifications

• COMSOC 1 & 2 or SAMTRAC Certificate is essential
• Blasting Certificate or Trade Certificate is essential
• 4 years operational experience in SHE and/or Risk management is essential
• 1 year experience as a Safety Officer or 1 year experience as a Shift Supervisor/Foreman in production environment is essential
• Extensive knowledge of risk assessment techniques (CURA, BOW-TIE)
• Experience in HSE management systems (ISO14001, ISO45001)
• Valid medical certificate or be medically fit to obtain such a certificate is essential

Responsibilities

• Facilitate risk assessments using CURA and generate risk assessment reports
• Conduct Critical Control analysis of fatal and significant injuries/incidents and review risk profiles
• Scrutinise section 11(5) reports for effectiveness of controls
• Update and maintain Implats' risk management standards and document management system
• Attend committee meetings and consult with Health and Safety Committee on risks
• Draft, monitor and implement mine safety standards
• Input and generate peer fatal risk review results
• Conduct training sessions for line supervisors in accident/injury investigations and risk assessment techniques

Job description

To ensure compliance to legislation, mine policies, standardrules and procedures in respect of safety issues in a designated area of responsibility

• Facilitate risk assessments (ie. capturing and editing risk assessments) and generate
  risk assessment reports using CURA software.
• Conduct a Critical Control analysis of all fatal and significant injuries / incidents and
  review all significant injuries and major incidents to determine if the risk profile is
  relevant.
• Scrutinise all section 11(5) reports for effectiveness of controls.
• Update group standards in terms of risk management
• Update and maintain Implats' document management system in terms of risk
  management.
• Review, update and maintain Implats' baseline risk assessments.
  Attend standard committee and ad-hoc meetings and consult with Health and Safety
• Committee on all aspects of risks to health and safety.
  Actively involved in drafting, monitoring and implementation of all mine standards
• Input and generate peer fatal risk review results.
• Conduct training sessions for line supervisors in accident / injury investigations and
  Risk Assessment techniques and methods
