Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an Elderly Care Support Officer to provide compassionate home-based support in Richards Bay, KwaZulu-Natal. You will develop care plans, visit clients, and coordinate with families and healthcare professionals to enhance safety, comfort and independence for seniors.

The role blends in-person visits with remote coordination and requires a valid driver’s license, reliability, and the ability to work autonomously in a hybrid setting.

Qualifications

• Qualification in Gerontology, Nursing, Social Work or related healthcare field.
• Minimum 2 years of elderly care, home-based support, or similar experience.
• Strong understanding of the physical and emotional needs of the elderly.
• Proficient in maintaining client records and care plans.
• Driver's license and access to reliable transport for in-person visits.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement individualized care plans for elderly clients.
• Conduct regular home visits to assess client well-being and provide support.
• Assist clients with daily living activities while promoting independence.
• Coordinate with healthcare professionals, families and community services.
• Provide emotional support and companionship to combat loneliness.
• Monitor health changes and report concerns promptly.
• Organize social activities and community integration opportunities.
• Ensure client safety and maintain confidential records.
