Boxer Superstores Durban is seeking an experienced National Buyer - Commodities to oversee commodity pricing dynamics, supplier negotiations, and high-volume food retail sourcing from the Durban-based buying team.

The role focuses on market movements, category profitability, and securing the right products at optimal prices while aligning with promotional planning and margin goals.

Qualifications

• Relevant buying or category management experience in food retail, FMCG, wholesale, or supplier environments.
• Strong exposure to food commodity categories and market pricing dynamics.
• Proven ability to negotiate pricing, trading terms and supplier agreements.
• Experience in category strategy, margin optimisation and promotional planning.
• Excellent analytical, numerical and forecasting capabilities.
• Strong commercial judgement to respond to market changes.

Do you understand the dynamics of commodity pricing, supplier negotiations and high-volume food retail?

We're looking for an experienced and commercially driven National Buyer - Commodities to join the Boxer Superstores Buying Team.

This role requires a professional who understands commodity market movements, pricing competitiveness, category profitability and the importance of securing the right products at the right price.

What we're looking for:

• Relevant buying, category management or commercial experience within Food Retail, FMCG, Wholesale or the supplier/manufacturer environment.
• Strong exposure to food commodity categories and market pricing dynamics.
• Proven ability to negotiate competitive pricing, trading terms and supplier agreements.
• Experience in category strategy, margin optimisation, promotional planning and volume management.
• Excellent analytical, numerical and forecasting capabilities.
• Strong commercial judgement and the ability to respond to changing market conditions.
