Job summary

Boxer Superstores seeks a National Buyer – Perishables to drive category growth and profitability across our Durban footprint. You will manage supplier partnerships, negotiate terms, and optimise pricing and promotions for perishables, especially dairy and juice.

Applicants should bring proven buying experience in food retail or FMCG, strong perishables knowledge, and solid PNL stewardship with advanced Excel skills to stay competitive in a fast-paced retail environment.

Qualifications

• Proven buying or commercial category experience within Food Retail, FMCG, Wholesale or supplier/manufacturer environment.
• Strong knowledge of Perishables, preferably Dairy & Juice.
• Experience in supplier negotiations, pricing, margin management and promotional planning.
• Understanding of stock management, market trends and capability to manage a category PNL.
• Strong analytical skills and commercial acumen; advanced Excel proficiency.
• Ability to operate strategically in a fast-paced, competitive retail environment.

Are you a commercially astute Buying professional with a strong understanding of the Perishables market, ideally Dairy & Juice

Boxer Superstores is looking for an experienced National Buyer – Perishables to drive category growth, profitability, competitive pricing and strategic supplier partnerships across our retail footprint.

What we're looking for:

• Proven buying or commercial category experience within Food Retail, FMCG, Wholesale or the supplier/manufacturer environment.


• Strong knowledge of Perishables, preferably Dairy & Juice


• Demonstrated success in supplier negotiations, pricing, margin management and promotional planning.


• Sound understanding of stock management, market trends and the ability to manage a category PNL.


• Strong analytical skills, commercial acumen and advanced Excel proficiency.


• Ability to operate strategically in a fast-paced, highly competitive retail environment.

Supplier-side candidates with relevant category and commercial experience are encouraged to apply.

Candidates must currently reside in Durban or be willing to relocate to Durban if successful.
