Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a dedicated Legal Counsel with a focus on Commercial Litigation to manage and represent clients in complex disputes in George, Western Cape. You will join a team committed to delivering exceptional legal services and advancing the firm’s reputation within the Western Cape legal community.

You will handle a variety of commercial disputes, advise on strategies, and mentor junior staff while maintaining strong client relationships and ensuring clear, timely communication.

Qualifications

• Admitted Attorney of the High Court of South Africa with minimum 6 years’ experience in commercial litigation.
• Proven experience handling contractual, corporate, and insolvency disputes.
• Strong advocacy, research, writing and analytical abilities.
• Excellent negotiation and client management skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
• Willingness to reside in or relocate to George, Western Cape.

Responsibilities

• Manage a caseload of commercial litigation matters from inception to resolution.
• Conduct legal research, prepare pleadings, affidavits, and other court documents.
• Represent clients in court proceedings, arbitrations, and mediations.
• Advise clients on legal strategies and risk assessments.
• Negotiate settlements and facilitate ADR processes.
• Work closely with senior partners on complex cases.
• Maintain strong client relationships and ensure clear communication throughout litigation.
• Stay updated on relevant case law, statutes, and procedural rules.
• Assist in developing junior legal staff.
