Placements24 is recruiting an experienced Commercial Laundry Operations Manager for our client in Nelspruit, Mpumalanga. You will oversee day-to-day operations at a busy facility serving hotels, hospitals and corporates, lead a team of laundry staff, optimize production workflows and ensure top quality and hygiene standards.

The role combines on-site leadership with remote administration, requiring strong organizational and safety focus, cost control and reporting to senior management.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in operations management, preferably in laundry or manufacturing.

About the Role

Our client, a well-established commercial laundry service provider in Nelspruit, Mpumalanga , is seeking an experienced and dynamic Commercial Laundry Operations Manager. This role is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of a busy laundry facility, ensuring efficient processing of large volumes of laundry for clients such as hotels, hospitals, and corporate businesses. You will lead a team of laundry staff, manage production workflows, maintain equipment, and ensure strict quality control and hygiene standards are met. The role requires a hybrid working model, with significant time spent on-site managing operations, supplemented by remote work for administrative tasks, planning, and client communication. This is a key leadership position in the service industry of Nelspruit .

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and supervise all aspects of the commercial laundry process, from receiving and sorting to washing, drying, pressing, and dispatch.
• Lead, train, and motivate a team of laundry operatives, ensuring productivity and adherence to quality standards.
• Develop and implement efficient production schedules to meet client demands and deadlines.
• Oversee the maintenance and repair of all laundry machinery and equipment, ensuring optimal performance and safety.
• Implement and enforce stringent hygiene and quality control measures in line with industry regulations.
• Manage inventory of chemicals, linens, and supplies, ensuring cost-effective procurement and usage.
• Monitor operational costs and identify opportunities for efficiency improvements and cost savings.
• Liaise with sales and client relations teams to ensure client satisfaction and address any service-related issues.
• Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations within the facility.
• Generate operational reports on production, quality, and resource utilization for senior management.

Requirements

• Proven experience in operations management, preferably within the laundry, textile, or manufacturing industry.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and manage a team effectively.
• Strong understanding of laundry processes, machinery, and chemical applications.
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
• Knowledge of health, safety, and hygiene standards in a commercial setting.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, demanding environment.
• Proficiency in using operational software for scheduling and reporting (partially remote).
• Must be able to commit to a hybrid work schedule, spending significant time on-site in Nelspruit, Mpumalanga , with flexibility for remote administrative tasks.
