Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Commercial HVAC Installation Technician for East London. You will install heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems in commercial properties, read plans, and commission equipment.

This hybrid role combines on-site work across the Eastern Cape with remote planning and paperwork; you will troubleshoot, ensure codes and safety, and provide client guidance. The ideal candidate has proven HVAC installation experience, controls knowledge, and a valid driver’s license;

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Install commercial HVAC systems per blueprints and specs.
• Start-up, commissioning and performance verification.
• Read and interpret HVAC plans and manuals.
• Troubleshoot issues and perform necessary adjustments.
• Ensure installations meet codes, safety regs and manufacturers' guidelines.
• Collaborate with PMs, clients and other trades.
• Maintain tidy worksites and complete paperwork on time.
• Provide basic operation guidance to clients and participate in ongoing training.

About the Role

Our client, a leading provider of commercial climate control solutions, is seeking a skilled and dedicated Commercial HVAC Installation Technician to join their team in East London . This role involves the precise installation of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems in various commercial properties. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in HVAC systems, excellent diagnostic capabilities, and a commitment to delivering high-quality workmanship. This is a hybrid role, requiring significant on-site work at client locations across the Eastern Cape, balanced with administrative tasks and planning performed remotely or at the local branch. You will be instrumental in ensuring optimal comfort and air quality for businesses in the region.

Key Responsibilities

• Install new HVAC systems, including ductwork, piping, refrigeration components, and control systems, according to blueprints and specifications.
• Perform system start-up and commissioning, ensuring all components function correctly and efficiently.
• Read and interpret HVAC plans, technical manuals, and schematics.
• Troubleshoot and diagnose issues with newly installed systems, making necessary adjustments and repairs.
• Ensure all installations comply with local building codes, safety regulations, and manufacturer guidelines.
• Collaborate with project managers, clients, and other trades to ensure seamless project execution.
• Maintain a clean and organized job site, adhering to all site-specific safety rules.
• Complete all required installation paperwork, including work orders and compliance documentation, promptly.
• Provide basic operational guidance to clients on their new HVAC systems.
• Participate in ongoing training to stay updated on new technologies and installation techniques.

Requirements

• Proven experience as an HVAC Installation Technician, with a focus on commercial systems.
• Solid understanding of refrigeration cycles, airflow, and control systems.
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting HVAC blueprints, schematics, and technical specifications.
• Experience with various types of commercial HVAC equipment, including rooftop units, split systems, and VAV systems.
• Knowledge of electrical wiring and control circuits for HVAC systems.
• Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
• Valid driver's license and a clean driving record for travel to client sites in and around East London .
• Ability to work independently and manage project timelines effectively.
• Good communication and customer service skills.
• Relevant trade qualifications or certifications in HVAC installation and repair are highly preferred.
• Physical ability to work in various environments, including heights and confined spaces, and lift heavy equipment.
