Job summary

Inspired Education’s Reddam House Constantia is seeking an experienced Afrikaans teacher to deliver engaging lessons to students from Stage 1 to Grade 12 in a premium IEB school setting.

The role requires a relevant degree and teaching qualification with SACE registration, and a strong connection with teenagers. You will contribute to a dynamic team, develop resources, and participate in after-school activities and conferences as required.

Qualifications

• A relevant degree and teaching qualification is required.
• SACE registration is mandatory.
• Proven excellence in teaching Afrikaans is expected.
• Energetic, proactive, and able to engage teenagers.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Attention to detail and high standards in administration.

Responsibilities

• Plan, prepare and present Afrikaans lessons.
• Create a nurturing teaching environment to promote engaged learning.
• Be punctual, professional and supervise homework and behaviour.
• Evaluate and reflect on teaching practices; engage in PD.
• Teach extra lessons two afternoons per week when required.
• Produce high-standard learning resources for students.
• Respond to emails/parent messages within 24 hours.
• Attend school events and contribute to exams and reports.

ROLE SUMMARY:

• To adopt a holistic view to students in their care, promoting the general progress and well-being of individuals and of any class or group assigned to them.
• To create a positive learning and sports environment and motivate students to achieve their full potential.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Plan prepare and present interesting and exciting Afrikaans lessons.
• Establish a teaching environment that is nurturing, and which promotes engaged learning.
• Behave in a professional manner with regard to punctuality, behaviour, standards of work and students’ homework.
• Evaluate, reflect on and refine teaching practice.
• Be open to continuously develop ones teaching through personal and school wide professional development.
• Teach extra lessons, when required, on two afternoons per week.
• Produce resources of a high standard for students.
• Respond to e-mails and telephone messages from parents within 24 hours.
• Show loyalty to all facets of Reddford House.
• Attend all special occasions at the discretion of the relevant Head.
• Set and mark exams and all other forms of student evaluation.
• Write report comments.
• The post holder is required to undertake any other reasonable tasks that the School Head/line manager determine.

• Have a relevant degree and teaching qualification
• Be registered with SACE

• Preferably) have experience of teaching the IEB curriculum
• Be ready to contribute to the extra-mural (afternoon) programme.
• Be willing to organise / attend camps as per school requirements
• Be available for Regional and National conferences or other training as required
• Have experience or, or a willingness to join IEB marking and moderation panels.
