Job summary

Inspired Education Group's Reddam House Bedfordview is seeking an Afrikaans teacher to nurture language learning and academic excellence. The role focuses on delivering engaging Afrikaans lessons and building a nurturing environment for students.

The ideal candidate will hold a relevant degree and teaching qualification, be registered with SACE, and demonstrate enthusiasm, strong communication, and attention to detail. Willingness to participate in after-school activities and camps is expected.

Responsibilities

• Plan, prepare and deliver Afrikaans lessons.
• Create high-quality teaching materials for Afrikaans.
• Maintain professional standards of punctuality and conduct.
• Respond to parents and colleagues promptly (within 24 hours).
• Contribute to after-school activities and school events.
• Support the Head and teaching teams in assessment and reporting.

ROLE SUMMARY:

• To adopt a holistic view to students in their care, promoting the general progress and well-being of individuals and of any class or group assigned to them.
• To create a positive learning environment and motivate students to achieve their full potential.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Plan prepare and present interesting and exciting Afrikaans lessons.
• Establish a teaching environment that is nurturing, and which promotes engaged learning.
• Behave in a professional manner with regard to punctuality, behaviour, standards of work and students’ homework.
• Evaluate, reflect on and refine teaching practice.
• Be open to continuously develop ones teaching through personal and school wide professional development.
• Teach extra lessons, when required, on two afternoons per week.
• Produce resources of a high standard for students.
• Respond to e-mails and telephone messages from parents within 24 hours.
• Show loyalty to all facets of Reddford House.
• Attend all special occasions at the discretion of the relevant Head.
• Set and mark exams and all other forms of student evaluation.
• Write report comments.
• The post holder is required to undertake any other reasonable tasks that the School Head/line manager determine.

• Preferably) have experience of teaching the IEB curriculum
• Be ready to contribute to the extra-mural (afternoon) programme.
• Be willing to organise / attend camps as per school requirements
• Be available for Regional and National conferences or other training as required
• Have experience or, or a willingness to join IEB marking and moderation panels.
